Imagine your wedding taking place against the backdrop of exposed brick with hand-scraped acacia wood floors and with numerous crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.
As one of the most unique wedding venues in the area, The Century offers just that. Located in the heart of downtown Modesto, The Century is one of the city's historical landmarks, setting the stage for a truly one-of-a-kind wedding experience.
In January 1912, William R. Mensinger built the Modesto Theater. The three-story building included a 34-foot wide stage, an Alaskan marbled lobby, and seated 900 including the balcony. It opened in August of 1912 and was dedicated on February 6th of 1913 with the production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penzance” presented by the Modesto Choral Society. Around 10 months later the theater was gutted by a fire. On July 9th of 1914, Mensinger rebuilt and rededicated the theater.
One hundred years later in 2014, Erin Doran fell in love with the rundown, vacant building. She envisioned restoring this once town jewel back to its glory days and established The Century as an elevated wedding and event venue. Her extreme respect and admiration for historic architecture and her adept eye for design have enabled her to masterfully highlight the natural beauty in the original features of this building. Erin and her team pride themselves on their exquisite taste and tremendous abilities in event execution. Like a well-oiled machine, they all work together to ensure your event goes better than you imagined.
