Julie was an Independent Learning teacher at my former high school, Valley Charter High School in Modesto, CA. Although she was never my teacher, she treated me as if I was her own student: supportive, loving, and encouraging. We never kept in touch that often since my graduation in 2013, but when I saw her name come across my desk I knew exactly who she was and what she had meant to me during my high school years- always passionate for her students. Catching up with each other’s lives, I told her about my photography business to which she responded with absolute joy in her desire to have her family photos taken! I was thrilled and honored to have met her two kiddos, Shyanne & Wyatt. We had fun with smiles, laughs, and silliness. Despite their rejections, this is a photogenic family right here!
Wyatt likes playing basketball and ride his scooter or bicycle. When asked if he had any hidden talents, Wyatt replied, “Playing Minecraft.” Boys will be boys… Country and Momma’s boy, Wyatt is a kindhearted boy who will grow up to be a protective brother of his older sister, Shyanne.
Shyanne is an 8th grader approaching her four years of high school. When I asked her if she had any special talents, Shyanne replied, “Being awesome.” Seeing the two siblings interact with each other is what you would think you’d expect of a teenager and pre-teen, but there playfulness and youthfulness shown through the whole session.
“You can kiss your family and friends good-bye and put miles between you, but at the same time you carry them with you in your heart, your mind, your stomach, because you do not just live in a world but a world lives in you.” Frederick Buechner
Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to capture your family’s portraits!
